In this video, Avi Oziel will teach you where the bulk of recovered gold from computers comes from.  While there is gold pins, and other contact points throughout the motherboard and disk drives, the majority of the valuable gold is on the CPU and RAM chips.

Gold fingers or the edge connectors that provide the electro-mechanical connections between daughter, which include memory modules, to a computer'smother board provides the most value-rich resource of gold in e-scrap computers.

Not all edge connectors are gold plated. Most modern printed circuit board manufacturing processes bond a type of tin foil to the board to provide the electronic channels. High quality boards used in older computers and for some telecommunications and military applications may use gold plating rather than tin. Other boards are manufactured with a gold plate applied to the fingers and those gold fingers form the basis for what Mr. Oziel explains in this video, on identifying the gold in CPU Processor and RAM Circuit Chips.

Avi Oziel In: How To Recover Gold From Integrated Circuit Chips

In this video, Avi Oziel describes how to recover gold from integrated circuit or IC chips found on motherboards from a computer, router, or any other circuit board that contains a CPU. It is easy to miss these gold filled IC chips as the gold is not visible from the outside such as the CPU chips, RAM fingers, or IDE pins.  The key here is to spot a small line of gold on the edge of the IC chip, indicating that there is more gold inside the chip if pried open! Also note, you must first break away the IC chip from the motherboard and then remove the ceramic casing that covers the precious metal from sight. So remember, always break open the ceramic casing to uncover the gold before processing your IC chips in your acid peroxide solution!
